As a Recreational Therapist you will contribute to the emotional, social and psychological wellbeing and enjoyment of our clients as a therapy modality.

You will have a strong passion for supporting women and children impacted by domestic and family violence to enhance and build upon their lives using art and artistic expression, as well as other activities to achieve this. The program goal is to enhance and provide positive experiences that foster, enhance and develop individual’s emotional, physical, creative, expressive and sensory experiences using recreational therapy as the conduit.

You will also:

  • Provide support by developing and implementing a Recreational Therapy program, involving individual and group session and creative workshops.
  • Conducting sessions with our clients using various types of visual art, including drawing, sculpting, painting, ceramics, photography and clay modelling; music, cooking and gardening.
  • Support our clients towards the achievement of casework goals.
  • Discussing client’s progress with them to evaluate the meaning and emotions behind their therapeutic achievement.

What makes a difference for us?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Art, or Visual Arts, or Music, or Education, or Counselling, with relevant industry experience within community services and working with vulnerable clients.
  • Current Driver’s License would be of benefit for this role but not an essential requirement
  • Current First Aid Certificate is desirable but not mandatory for this role

Due to the inherent requirements of this programs delivery we require female representation from our Supported Accommodation team, as such we are currently looking for a Female Support Worker. To be a female is a genuine requirement for the position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1997
