What we are looking for

UNICEF Australia is in search of a strategic and innovative Manager of Domestic Partnerships and Alliances, with experience working with civil society, NGO’s and government organisations, to join our high performing Domestic Team. Reporting directly into the Head of Domestic Partnerships and Alliances you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and contributing to high-value relationships, partnerships and connections so that UNICEF Australia can be effective in advocating for change with key stakeholders.

Your day will include

  • Supporting and implementing UNICEF Australia’s Domestic strategy with respect to strategic and sector focused partnerships, alliances and engagement with civil society, private sector and the Australian public
  • Maintaining a ‘real-time’ vigilance of what is happening in the child rights landscape to ensure agility and responsiveness, particularly to emerging crises impacting child rights
  • Identifying, assessing and validating the need for, and feasibility of, programs and major projects to ensure they align with our strategic aims while addressing defined, quantifiable issues impacting young people
  • Understanding and correctly interpreting the policy landscape so that UNICEF Australia’s partnership and advocacy focus, priorities and work activities can be planned and executed effectively
  • Ensuring the function is effective in collating and creating evidence and stories from initiatives, projects and partners to support compelling communication and influencing opportunities
  • Executive level communications including presentation and report writing

We would like you to have the following skills and experience

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant equivalent experience
  • Strong expertise and demonstrated experience in project and relationship management, ideally within the domestic advocacy /civil society / government partnerships spaces
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation with the ability to presents complex and difficult messages clearly and with impact
  • Strong working knowledge of child and youth policy areas and understanding of how domestic policy and advocacy environments operate
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organisational strategy into goals and outcomes for business functions, sub-functions and programs of work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively build and manage relationships with partner organisations and other stakeholders
  • Exceptional time management skills, with an ability to think on your feet and manage demanding / conflicting work priorities
