Job Role

Unions NSW is seeking two casual trainers to provide tailored training packages to workplaces with a focus on Respect@Work, paid family and domestic violence leave, gender equality and ethical bystander practices.

Key Responsibilities

The Gender Equity Trainer - casual responsibilities at Unions NSW include:

  • Provide the Unions NSW Gender Equity training packages in workplaces as directed,
  • Provide the training as per the format, style and content set by Unions NSW including utilisation of adult education principles, and commitment to evidence-based information provision,
  • Participate in training quality assurance and supervision,
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to the provision of training as directed,
  • In all training support:
    • the necessity for men’s engagement in the prevention of violence against women,
    • an understanding that violence against women is underpinned by gender inequality and offenders use power and control dynamics to hurt, humiliate and intimidate, and
    • that Unions have a civil society role in preventing men’s violence against women.

Essential Criteria

  • The successful candidate will have qualifications in teaching, training, gender studies or similar.
  • A current driver’s license.

Conditions and Entitlements

Most training will be offered from Trades Hall in Sydney, with the occasional regional booking. All training is full day sessions.

Training in delivering the already developed packages, supervision and quality assurance will support the trainer in their work. Wages and conditions for casual trainers are in accordance with the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award with some above award conditions, including an extra 2% super for female employees.

The recruitment process will include up to 2 Interviews and recommended applicants will be asked to provide a 5-minute presentation on a topic of their choosing.
