Workplace Gendered Violence Project Officer

UnionsWA is seeking a Workplace Gendered Violence Project Officer.

This is a grant funded position to provide advice and support to UnionsWA and affiliated unions by providing research, submission writing in areas such as industrial relations, work health and safety and workers’ compensation.

THE ROLE WILL:

  • Research the prevalence of workplace gendered violence within Western Australia
  • Map a response to gendered violence in high-risk industries and cohorts of workers
  • Develop resources to assist workers, union delegates and health and safety representatives to respond to gendered violence in the workplace
  • Work with affiliated unions to implement responses in workplaces
  • Assist with advocacy to change industry practices, laws and regulations
  • Scope future work projects relating to combating gendered violence in the workplace across multiple industries

This is a 0.8 FTE, 12 month fixed-term contract.

It is a Specialist Level 1 position, with a salary range of $74,000-$85,000, depending on experience

Generous conditions are applicable, in accordance with the UnionsWA Inc Staff Agreement

It is based in the Perth CBD and is available for an immediate start

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • A strong commitment to trade unionism and gender equality
  • Experience in legislative reform and policy submissions to Government reviews and parliamentary inquires
  • Experience in working with individuals or groups of workers to resolve workplace issues
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with affiliated unions and other key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of issues facing the Australian union movement and working people
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in union organising or as a union industrial officer
  • Experience in Work, Health and Safety policy
  • Experience in gendered based policy or advocacy
  • Experience in Workers' Compensation
