This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in Oran Park. Starting base annual salary of $79,823 to $87,169 negotiable based on experience, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options. Leave benefits included.

About the opportunity:

At Uniting, we’re seeking an Aboriginal Family Worker to join our Family Connect and Support (FCS) team. This is your chance to be part of a purpose-driven organisation that inspires people, enlivens communities, and confronts injustice every day.

As an Aboriginal Family Worker, you will:

  • Build trust and connections with Aboriginal families, children, and young people.
  • Provide culturally responsive, short-term casework and service coordination to address challenges and prevent the escalation of vulnerabilities.
  • Work closely with community partners to connect families to the right services and supports.
  • Advocate for the voices of children, young people, and families, ensuring they’re heard and respected.
  • Deliver services grounded in evidence-based frameworks, tailored to the unique strengths of each family.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Cultural Expertise: You identify as an Aboriginal person and have a deep understanding of Aboriginal communities, structures, and cultural practices.
  • Qualifications: Diploma (or higher) in Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work, or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Community Connections: An established network within the local Aboriginal community and a commitment to culturally safe practices.
  • Flexibility: A valid NSW driver’s licence and the ability to meet families where they are—whether at home, in schools, or in community spaces.
  • Child Safety Commitment: Experience working with children and families, with a strong understanding of child protection and safety planning.
