The Aboriginal Mental Health Support worker will provide a range of individualiSed psychosocial support to consumers, by working with the recovery model and using a holistic, person-centered approach.  Establish links with Aboriginal communities & individuals.

About the role 

This role is responsible for providing a range of individualised psychosocial support to consumers. Working with the recovery model and using a holistic, person-centered approach, the person will support the consumer to achieve their goals. The role will also establish links with Aboriginal communities and individuals within the Local Health District and Primary Health Network, and identify barriers and solutions.

About You

  • This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People All applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977
  • Provide evidence of Aboriginal identity, and be able to demonstrate ability to work effectively with Aboriginal peoples and communities
  • Demonstrated links with the Aboriginal community.
  • The ability to engage, make and maintain new and existing connections to Aboriginal community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dates for celebration and memorial.
  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Peer Work, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work; and experience in the field.
