About the Opportunity

At Uniting, we call our Care Workers, Support Workers. Our Support Workers will work collaboratively together in our Respite Cottage, at various times during the day/night. This role is responsible for enhancing the residents’ well-being inclusive of their physical, psychological, social and spiritual qualities, to facilitate self-determination, capacity and resilience, as well as improve social engagement and quality of life for the resident. 

Alongside to working in our Respite Cottage, our Support Workers will be part of the Home and Community Care team, to support our clients remain independent in their own home for as long as possible.

The care work may include:

  • Giving personal care – helping with showering/bath and getting dressed; make beds and tidy rooms/wardrobes
  • Assist residents with medication, utilising medication compliance aids; simple wound dressing, etc.
  • Assist with meals preparation and feeding
  • Recognise, report and respond appropriately to changes in condition of residents

Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll have previous experience in aged or community care, or a passion to begin your career in aged care.
  • You’ll also be flexible and prepared to help meet the changing needs and schedules of our clients.
  • Ideally, you’ll have a Certificate III/IV in Aged Care or Individual Support or an equivalent qualification. If you’re not currently qualified and would like to be, then we can help you get there.  You’ll also need a First Aid Certificate but if you don’t have one yet, we can help you with that also.
  • Certified in Medication Administration 
  • You’ll need a provisional or full Australian driving licence and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle that’s comprehensively insured (not just CTP).
