About the role:

This is a full-time closed period contract (70 hours per fortnight) until June 2025, located in Campbelltown NSW.

About the opportunity:

Uniting is seeking an experienced early intervention caseworker to join our team in Campbelltown NSW. This role is responsible for the provision of early intervention casework and case management. Uniting Southwestern Sydney have a range of early intervention programs, specifically targeted towards supporting children, youth and families. As an early intervention caseworker, you will be required to establish and maintain relevant partnerships to support families and/or the individual to engage in their communities and support relevant and responsive service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide early intervention casework and case management services to your caseload.
  • Deliver services to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal individuals and families.
  • Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and immediately take appropriate action in line with agency policies and relevant professional responsibilities where the safety of the child or young person is at risk.
  • Assess the family’s strengths and needs using the early intervention common assessment tool, including the use of other evidence-based tools as appropriate.
  • Conduct a risk assessment of worker safety and develop strategies to offset risk so that workers are able to continue to access the service user’s home.
  • Be available to provide services to individuals, families, children and young people at times and in location that are most suitable to their needs including occasional evenings and before school.
  • Advocate effectively on behalf of service users to assist in linking them with ongoing support or services to best meet their needs.
  • Support individuals/parents/carers to develop their skills, utilising role modelling, teaching strategies as appropriate, utilizing home visiting and/or by facilitating parenting groups.
  • Maintain appropriate records for service user’s records including case notes, assessments, case plans etc.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences or related.
  • Relevant work experience of approx. 1 year or more working with families/children and/or youth.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social issues which may impact children, young people and their parents/carers. Including experience in working in the area of child protection, domestic/family violence, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse and/or homelessness.
  • Current NSW WWCC and current driver’s license
