About the opportunity:

Uniting is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Child and Family Therapist to join our dynamic Sydney team in the Uniting Counselling and Mediation service area. In this role, you will provide therapeutic and group work services to individuals, children, couples and families, aimed at improving health and wellbeing and fostering positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional individual, child, youth, relationship, and family counselling services in accordance with Uniting’s policies.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and family therapy, particularly in complex external systems such as DCJ, Family Court and mental health services.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver family therapy, including for court-ordered clients.
  • Support children, young people and families who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and substance abuse.
  • Manage casework, develop case plans, and conduct assessments for families.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of relationship education and therapeutic group work.
  • Maintain accurate client records and act within professional ethical conduct codes.
  • Provide after-hours services one evening per week and undertake any additional duties as required by the Centre Manager.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or counselling and have relevant training in your field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience and demonstrated competence in working with issues of violence, managing high conflict situations, and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and report writing skills
  • Previous experience in individual, couple and family therapy.
  • Familiarity with the Family Law Act 1975 and other relevant legislation.
