The Church & Community Collaboration Coordinator role is focused on working collaboratively with Uniting services, Mission Directorate team members, community networks and with the wider Church including Synod, Presbyteries and Congregations to enliven communities, confront injustice, and inspire people by building partnerships across these groups to assist those who are disadvantaged. Effective collaborations between Uniting services and congregations that help each fulfil their aspirations is the ultimate aim of this role.

This role is aimed on building partnerships in major metro and regional centres across NSW and ACT and as such will require a person willing to undertake some travel.

This position is a role in Uniting’s Mission Directorate. The team aims to execute Uniting’s and the Uniting Church of NSW ACT Synod’s strategies in mission and ministry in partnership with Presbyteries, Congregations, working groups and other bodies. This role reports to the Director of Mission, with day to day direction of work provided by the Church and Community Collaboration Lead – Rural and Regional.

Essential Criteria:

  • Formal qualifications in community development or social work desirable.
  • Member of the Uniting Church in Australia desirable but not essential.
  • Driver’s License (Car).
  • Significant experience and working knowledge of community development (e.g. community organising, asset based community development, community engagement principles and project management) in faith-based context.
  • Experience working in metro and urban contexts.
  • Significant knowledge on how the Uniting Church operates and willingness to work within its ethos.
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, facilitation skills, be organised, systematic, thorough, accurate and disciplined.

  • Experience and skills working within culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Experience working in the “first third” of life, multicultural communities and in future-focused growth opportunities.
  • Knowledge of community services, networks, resources, and issues.
  • Qualifications in Adult Education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in facilitating community planning processes.
  • Knowledge of Uniting services.
