About the role

As a Clinician in the MATT, you will be part of a dynamic team consisting of 8 full-time Clinicians, a consultant psychiatrist, and a registrar psychiatrist. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will initially shadow Clinicians in the same program both in person and remotely, learning the systems and partnering with the Community Development Coordinator as we prepare to commence service delivery.

As part of this new program, there will be ample training and professional development to learn the model and therapeutic interventions tailored to the population we serve.

About the program

headspace Early Psychosis is a youth mental health service offering free and confidential support for young people and their families who are experiencing an early episode of psychosis or are at risk of developing psychosis.

About you in the role

  • Participate in daily team meetings to review referrals, discuss cases, and allocate tasks.
  • Conduct assessments, follow-up appointments, and make referrals to other services, including domestic violence support, homelessness services, and family support.
  • Liaise with Canberra Health services, hospitals, schools, and other youth providers, ensuring young people receive care in environments where they feel most comfortable.
  • Complete intake processes, determining suitability for assessment and ongoing care, and transitioning young people to the Continuing Care Team or referring them to other appropriate services as needed.
  • Manage administrative tasks associated with client-facing work, including outcome measures and documentation using the "Master Care" EMR system.

About You

Qualifications:

Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline, and provisional or full membership with AHPRA or an appropriate professional body

  • A strong understanding of risk assessment and management, mental state examination, and bio-psycho-social assessment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation impacting your work.
  • Flexibility to work on-site at headspace in the Canberra, with some capacity for remote work.
