Role purpose:

This role is responsible for ensuring Uniting’s Compliance Framework is embedded across the organisation; supporting stakeholders across Uniting to develop, maintain and uplift their approach to compliance management; and providing compliance assurance activities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Compliance Framework is effectively embedded across the organiSation.
  • Support stakeholders in developing, maintaining, and enhancing compliance management.
  • Provide compliance assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to respond to regulatory changes.
  • Translate business and strategic objectives into actionable plans.
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive work environment.

Specific Duties:

  • Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide compliance management system.
  • Embed compliance framework components and provide tools to mitigate non-compliance risks.
  • Review, update, and implement annual compliance attestation processes.
  • Develop standardised compliance processes and procedures.
  • Offer compliance-related advice, training, and support to stakeholders.
  • Maintain and improve compliance programs for key risk areas.
  • Develop standardised reporting and escalation processes for compliance incidents.
  • Oversee compliance reporting to the Executive and Board.
  • Provide compliance training for the Executive and Board.
  • Drive improvements in the organisation's compliance and risk culture.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Quality and Service Improvement, and Internal Audit functions.
  • Stay current with legislation and manage regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally in a Line 2 compliance function.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance management systems.
  • Expert understanding of compliance frameworks and implementation.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying legislation, standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Experience working with external regulators.
  • Passion for social change and supporting the disadvantaged.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and partner internally for practice improvement.
  • Strong relationship-building and influence management skills in complex organisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.

Experience in human services, NFP, or Government sectors desirable but we are open to any industry!
