We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance and Management Specialist to spearhead the responsible and efficient management of our organisation's invaluable data assets.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Governance and Management Specialist, you'll drive our data strategy and ensure the highest standards of data quality, compliance, and security. Your responsibilities will include:

Data Inventory Maintenance:

  • Regularly reviewing our data asset inventory, involving technical stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment with organisational objectives.

Data Asset Lifecycle Management:

  • Applying suitable treatments to data assets no longer required for business or regulatory purposes, maintaining compliance and ethical data handling practices.

Data Security Enhancement:

  • Identifying opportunities for data de-identification or anonymisation to bolster security and privacy measures.

Data Migration and Archival Oversight:

  • Archiving data assets necessary for legal or regulatory compliance while ensuring controlled and timely data destruction when records exceed retention periods. Encryption of sensitive data when required.

Access Reviews and Governance Implementation:

  • Conducting access reviews to uphold the principle of least privilege and implementing a robust Data Governance solution aligned with collaboration, quality, compliance, and analytics objectives.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Working collaboratively with various departments to identify, document, and manage structured and unstructured data. Establishing and enforcing data access control policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

 To excel in this role, you'll possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data governance and management roles, demonstrating a track record of successful implementation and oversight.
  • Proficiency in data management tools, data security principles, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, fostering collaboration and buy-in across diverse teams.
  • Analytical prowess with the ability to strategically address data-related challenges.
  • Experience in establishing and enforcing data access controls and authentication protocols.

Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate collaboration among diverse teams.

Analytical Thinking: Capacity to analyse data-related challenges, identify patterns, and propose strategic solutions to enhance data quality and compliance.

Critical Thinking: Ability to evaluate data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures critically, suggesting improvements or modifications when necessary.

Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in managing data inventory, ensuring accuracy, and complying with retention and disposal requirements.

Problem-Solving Aptitude: Proactively identifying potential data governance issues and demonstrating resourcefulness in resolving them.

Leadership and Collaboration: Capacity to lead data governance initiatives and collaborate across departments to align data management practices with organisational goals.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to evolving data regulations, technology advancements, and organizational changes, adjusting strategies accordingly.

Ethical Decision-Making: Upholding ethical standards in data handling and decision-making, especially concerning sensitive or confidential information.

Project Management Skills: Capability to manage multiple data governance projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered within deadlines and align with organisational objectives.

Technical Acumen: Proficiency in data management tools, data security protocols, and a strong understanding of data architecture and governance frameworks
