At Uniting, we’re more than just an organisation; we’re a community that cares deeply about the people we serve. With one of our valued team members on a development secondment, we have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and capable leader to step into the role of Debtor Management Team Leader within our Client Administration team. This is your chance to lead with heart, guiding a small team of 3 through the complexities of finance while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our clients.

Why this Role Matters

This isn’t just about managing overdue accounts—it's about understanding the people behind the numbers. Our clients are at the core of what we do, and we’re looking for someone who can bring a considered, practical, and empathetic approach to their financial needs. You’ll lead the charge in finding solutions, not just resolutions, working closely with clients to navigate financial challenges in a way that aligns with Uniting’s values of care and compassion.

About the Role

As part of our Finance Shared Services Division, the Client Administration Team is the central point of contact for all things related to client transactions and finance queries, especially within our Ageing Services. Your role as the Team Leader will focus on debtor management, helping clients with finance-related enquiries and ensuring prompt, thoughtful follow-up and resolution.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead & Inspire: Mentor and coach your small team to deliver excellent client service, helping them grow and succeed.
  • Client-Centric Focus: Handle debtor management activities with a compassionate and client-first approach, including account follow-ups, payment plans, and ad-hoc financial processes.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and issue financial reports, ensuring that everything aligns with budgets and policy guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with other Uniting teams and external government services (like Centrelink and Medicare) to resolve client financial issues.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of the debtor management process, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and that all accounts are managed with precision and care.

About You

You’ll bring at least 3 years of experience leading teams and managing debtor processes, along with a proven ability to work compassionately and collaboratively with clients. Experience in the aged care or community sector would be highly desirable, but what’s most important is your confidence, communication skills, and commitment to supporting both your team and our clients.
