This is a full-time closed period contract until September 2025 (70 hours per fortnight) located in Oran Park NSW. $79,823 starting base annual salary plus super.

About the opportunity

Uniting is seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Worker for our Family Connect and Support (FCS) program. The FCS program is a holistic, family-centred service designed for children, young people, and families experiencing or at risk of vulnerability. The program aims to provide timely support to prevent the escalation of issues, focusing on families with medium to high complexities that do not meet the threshold for statutory child protection intervention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 20 families, providing tailored support through a tiered approach.
  • Deliver evidence-based services, including information, advice, assessment, short-term casework, case planning, service coordination, and active holding.
  • Engage with families through flexible and responsive methods such as home visits, community meetings, and phone calls.
  • Ensure service delivery is compliant with FCS Program Specifications and Uniting policies.
  • Promote Uniting’s reputation and actively contribute to a culture that values the voices and participation of children, young people, and families.
  • Work collaboratively with the FCS Triage and Assessment team to facilitate seamless transitions for families.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records and related administrative processes.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services or similar with relevant experience.
  • Understanding of child protection issues and response in line with legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a range of practice frameworks and theoretical models of intervention.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and identify the needs of CALD children, young people, their families and communities and work with interpreters where needed.
  • Proficient in developing case plans that acknowledge and utilise the strengths of the client, their family and the community.
  • Ability to work within clear objectives in the coordination of short-term case work.
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
  • Current NSW WWCC
