We are seeking a visionary General Manager to support our Communities Directorate, a critical leadership position that will have a direct and lasting impact on the delivery of Mental Health and Wellbeing, Disability and Homelessness services at Uniting. In this role, you will oversee diverse teams and take ownership of shaping and driving strategic business initiatives to ensure we meet both our immediate goals and long-term vision to disrupt entrenched disadvantage.

A significant part of your role will involve collaborating closely with internal teams as well as fostering relationships/partnerships with external stakeholders. You will be instrumental in leading Uniting through key sector changes as well as being part of the Communities leadership team guiding the future direction of the organisation in a period of transformation.

As a member of the leadership team, you will inspire by living Uniting's values and promote wellbeing, inclusiveness and person centred care. You will align team efforts with organisational goals, manage resources and risks, and ensure service quality through continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives Innovation, think systemically, promote innovation, and champion inclusivity.
  • Effectively manages resources, including risk and financial performance, while strategically planning, prioritising tasks, managing change, and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow and strengthen our service offerings, ensuring alignment with Uniting’s vision and values.
  • Balance strategic development with operational excellence to drive business outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and maintain a strong focus on person-centred care.

About You

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification.
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of innovation and problem-solving.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset and commercial acumen, with experience in developing and executing business strategies.
  • Experience in disability, mental health services or a related field is highly desirable.
