About the Opportunity

This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 35 hours /week (Monday - Friday) and will be based at Newpin in Bidwill

We’re looking for a supportive and adaptable Play Facilitator to join our Newpin team in Bidwill! You will provide therapeutic play opportunities to help families referred for child restoration. Working in our purpose-built family playroom, you’ll support parents and children to build attachment, self-regulation, and emotional development through play.

Who we are

The Newpin program specialises in supporting parents to work towards having their children safely returned to their care.

About you in the role

  • Facilitate therapeutic play sessions for parents and children (0-5 years)
  • Support the development of positive parent-child relationships
  • Provide strategies to guide children’s behaviour and help with self-regulation
  • Implement trauma-informed practices in a safe and nurturing environment
  • Collaborate with the team to create stimulating, educational play programs

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field with experience working with children (0-5 years)
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory
  • Experience in developing therapeutic relationships and managing challenging behaviours
  • Ability to support parents in developing positive parenting skills

Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, challenges and protocols is important to deliver effectively in this role. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

TQ3:  Demonstrated skills and experience providing a safe therapeutic space for children and their parents
