About the Role

This is part-time contract opportunity working 13 hours week until July 30, 2025 (with possible extension) based at Wardell Community Village.

Be a driving force for recovery in Cabbage Tree Island Community. As a Youth Worker, you will implement and support activities that bring hope and resilience to residents, especially those impacted by the recent floods. Your focus will be on engaging with young people, fostering community connections, and creating meaningful projects that help rebuild lives.

About you in the role

  • Connect with young people and the wider community to build trust and support.  
  • Support delivery of youth activities that foster resilience, growth, and healing.  
  • Collaborate with residents to develop community-driven projects that promote recovery.  
  • Act as a mentor and advocate, especially for young men navigating challenges.

About You

You’re passionate about empowering youth and strengthening communities, with:  

  • Minimum Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, or related field.  
  •  Experience in youth work (desirable)
  • A current driver’s license and NSW WWCC.  
  • Experience working with young people, especially young men, in community development or disaster recovery.  
  • A strong ability to lead community initiatives and connect with diverse groups, particularly in regional and Aboriginal communities.  

Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, challenges and protocols is important to deliver effectively in this role. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
