Uniting Communities is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and dedicated Aboriginal Peer Worker to join our team. If you have a passion for helping homeless and vulnerable young people take control of their health and well-being, and if you're committed to reducing harm for individuals, families, and communities, then we want to hear from you!

To be eligible to apply for this position, applicants must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

This will be a Permanent Part time Position 3 days per week.

Your Impact:

As an Aboriginal Peer Worker, you will:

  • Provide vital AOD harm minimisation information to our clients, following evidence-based best practices.
  • Offer clients valuable insights into accessing our services and what they can expect.
  • Co-facilitate engaging group sessions and one-on-one interactions with our clients.
  • Empower clients from a peer perspective.
  • Contribute to our Clean Needle Program, making a positive impact on public health.

About You

You will have demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Personal experience within the Community Services Sector
  • Knowledge of the AOD sector, health sector and harm minimisation strategies
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to connect with and engage a diverse range of people.
  • A strong commitment to ethical customer service.
