UMFC - a proud partner of The Orange Door - currently has full-time positions available as above. These new positions focus on child wellbeing and family violence, and will primarily work from the Orange Door location but will also remain connected and involved with UMFC and the CaFS Service.
UMFC Child and Family Services (CaFS) provides an entry point for vulnerable children and families to access the range of services and supports they need to build the capacity of the family to support their children's healthy development. It also provides intensive casework and case coordination with the aim of strengthening the capacity of families to promote the safety, stability and development of their children and young people.
A key recommendation of the Royal Commission on Family Violence, and the Roadmap for Reform, was to establish a network of Support and Safety Hubs across Victoria. These Hubs are to provide a new way for women, children and young people experiencing family violence, and families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children to access the services they need to be safe and supported. These Hubs, known as The Orange Door are made up of staff employed by Family Safety Victoria (FSV), Community Service Organisations including UMFC, Aboriginal services and DFFH.
The role of the Child Wellbeing Practitioners, under the supervision of the Team Leader Child and Wellbeing, will provide a specialist approach within Ovens Murray Orange Door focusing on the best interests of children and young people at all times. In the Orange door role, the position will rotate between the Assessment and Planning and the Screening, Identification and Triage teams.
Along with other important qualities, the successful applicant will have a tertiary qualification such as social work, psychology, welfare studies or a related discipline and demonstrated experience and skills in the provision of information and advice, intake, referral, counselling, casework and consultation including the completion of detailed/complex child & family assessments, including child/youth risk assessments.
