KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is for a lead organiser in the Public Sector Portfolio in South Australia. The role will require someone very self-directed, creative and willing to explore new ways of organising workers.

In addition, the Lead Organiser will demonstrate:

  • Strong organisational skills
  • An ability to get up to speed quickly in a new campaign area
  • Good communication, messaging and rapport building skills;
  • An ability to plan and organise work and achieve outcomes.
  • An ability to participate in the unions political and social justice agenda;
  • Ensure that the Union’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion are upheld and promoted.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Lead Organiser:

  • Experience successfully leading a team of organisers to achieve organising outcomes of membership growth, leadership and participation
  • Experience setting and developing a positive team culture.
  • Ability to operationalise strategic campaign plans to achieve campaign objectives
  • An ability to work well under pressure in a very fast paced environment
  • Experience developing organisers to improve their organising capacity
  • Experience in creative thinking, identifying organising challenges and brainstorming new solutions
  • A passion and drive to improve workers’ lives and achieving the goals of the Union.

Candidates with experience in union or related organising and campaigning will be highly regarded.

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

  • A valid driver’s licence; and
  • Right of Entry Permits
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

REMUNERATION

An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

  • Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;
  • A motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance;
  • 16% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
