  • Salary: $85,120 - $91,586 plus superannuation and salary package

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The role will work closely with the parent/carer, family unit, key partners, and stakeholders to provide an integrated response to provide a family support service to Aboriginal children and families to address the identified support needs of the children and families.

The practitioner will empower families to share their story their way through the implementation of culturally appropriate and trauma informed engagement, information gathering, planning processes and ensure the active involvement of families in decision making at each phase towards self-determination. 

About You

  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose 
  • A preferred 1 year of work experience inchild and family sector. 
  • Qualifications in relevant diploma, degree, or equivalent such as Social Work or Community Services field.  
  • Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children. 
  • Good knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors 
  • Ability to effectively engage and support families on agreed goals and tasks in a timely manner using strengths-based, culturally appropriate and trauma informed approaches. 
  • Ability to complete comprehensive assessments to determine needs for families and able to formulate interventions to respond to the needs. 
  • Demonstrated skill to identify goals and create a plan to respond to these in a timely manner, including experience to respond crisis situations effectively. 
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
