  • Salary $73,795.28 - $79,135.16 Plus Super based on Skills and Qualifications.

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The role of Client Support Officer will be responsible for providing one on one support to our clients – Stolen Generations survivors – on their journey to find and be reconnected to their family, culture and traditional country. In your role you will assist our clients to apply for their adoption or foster records, relevant birth, death and marriage certificates and any other records from record holders all over Australia.

These records will be used by you to confirm Aboriginal connections, traditional country, location of living family and loved ones who have passed.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose.
  • Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated understanding in working with Aboriginal families and children.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff, Government and agency partners and clients.
  • High-level written and computer use ability, including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High level organisational skills including time management and the ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Commitment and willingness to work closely with our clients and their family to support them in an empathic and respectful way.
  • Ability to travel throughout Victoria and interstate and undertake overnight stopovers.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
