The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
Reporting to the Principal Practitioner, the Practice Leader (Justice) provides leadership, mentoring, training, and expert advice to enhance VACCA’s ability to support Aboriginal people involved with the justice system. Recognising the overlap with programs in child and family welfare, family violence, and homelessness, the Practice Leader collaborates with other program leads, senior practitioners, and the Principal Practitioner to build staff capability and improve practices across VACCA.
The candidate must show commitment to VACCA's values, possess leadership and mentoring experience, and have an understanding of Aboriginal cultures and the justice system. They should practice reflectively and culturally, maintain relevant skills, build strategic relationships, provide high-level policy advice, develop and implement policies, represent VACCA in forums, and innovate within a cultural context. Excellent verbal and written skills are also required.
We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people to apply
