The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
This is a key role in driving impactful projects, innovative initiatives, and groundbreaking pilots to prevent family violence in Aboriginal communities, with a special focus on empowering young people. This dynamic role involves collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders to create culturally relevant and engaging resources that resonate with Aboriginal communities.
This is a multifaceted role requiring strong project management, collaboration, and communication skills. The position involves delivering evidence-based written reports informed by data from internal and external sources, managing multiple initiatives to prevent family violence—particularly among young people—and facilitating group discussions, consultations, and workforce training to enhance capacity within VACCA.
A key part of the role includes liaising with stakeholders across Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), mainstream community groups, and government agencies to ensure effective collaboration. The Senior Project Officer will also contribute to the development of culturally relevant resources such as factsheets, media content, activity guides, and training materials. Representing VACCA in meetings and forums, providing strategic advice, and supporting project evaluation are integral aspects of this role, alongside active participation in team meetings, training sessions, and other relevant activities.
