VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 33 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 65,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The Senior Policy Officer will support VACCHO to lead VACCHO’s policy, advocacy and campaigning, which includes supporting VACCHO to maintain relationships with Ministers, Parliamentarians, senior civil servants and sector stakeholders. The Senior Policy Officer will contribute to VACCHO being a strong voice for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and influencing policy across the range of health, wellbeing and broader system reform areas such as housing, workforce and infrastructure. The Senior Policy Officer role will be expected to lead specific projects and support policy and advocacy events.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will be a competent Senior Policy Officer who has proficient written communication skills and demonstrated experience preparing complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs while ensuring appropriate style and formats are used.

We are looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience. Strong inter-personal and relationship management skills are essential. You will be highly adaptable, comfortable working with ambiguity, and confident about providing advice and support to senior leaders.
