This Senior Project Officer role is to support development of an emerging portfolio focused on Aboriginal children and family wellbeing. The role will support co-design processes to inform a range of self-determined responses, including models of care that are responsive to needs and aspirations of Aboriginal families. The position will form part of the SEWB Team at the Balit Durn Durn Centre and inform the work of the Centre of Excellence for Aboriginal Families Wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Formulate comprehensive operational workplans for key projects within the Aboriginal children and family work portfolio.
  • Take a leadership role in the co-design process for health service design for children in care project, fostering collaborative partnerships with services, Community, and Government stakeholders.
  • Interpret and apply policy frameworks, providing authoritative and strategic advice to the Balit Durn Durn Centre, key stakeholders, and members.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-informed SEWB initiatives, encompassing models of care and frameworks that empower individuals, families, and communities while respecting their cultural contexts.
  • Translate and disseminate impactful discoveries, insights, and knowledge to facilitate shifts in policy and practice across relevant sectors.
  • Cultivate diverse relationships and partnerships with Community and key stakeholders, spanning Government, non-government entities, and academic institutions.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience to fulfil the responsibilities as described.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.

Highly Regarded

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and commitment to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal peoples, Communities, and organisations, in a culturally safe, and appropriate, manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of LGBTQIASB+ issues and experience with LGBTQIASB+ people via professional engagement, employment or lived experience.
