ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be a key member of our Leadership Team, collaborating closely with the CEO and the Board, and leading a small, dedicated group of professionals to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

As Head of Fundraising you will design, develop, and deliver the fundraising strategy, to exceed the annual target.

You will also be instrumental in driving acquisition, conversion, stewardship, and growth to achieve sustainable revenue growth across annual giving and community fundraising and building diversified streams of income for the organisation.

This role is a perfect fit for a dynamic, results-driven fundraiser with a passion for social justice. You will be a fearless initiator; able to find new opportunities, outreach to new potential leads and cultivate relationships from the start. You will enjoy working in a small, enthusiastic team and thrive on being able to operate at a strategic level whilst still being hands on with the day-to-day fundraising. It is important that you are a continuous learner, willing to innovate and to drive results with a commitment to efficiency and quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a proactive and inspiring leader, setting a positive example, and working productively with a small management and fundraising team.
  • Develop, budget, and implement a strategy and engagement plan for existing and prospective major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate donors, and bequests.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors strategically working on high value opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for new grant income to support both core and key project and program development.
  • Develop, budget, and implement a strategy and engagement plan for existing, lapsed, and new grassroots, regular, workplace and peer-to-peer donors.
  • Work in collaboration with the Leadership team, projects and administration team, Statutory and Advisory Board including the Fundraising and Marketing Board Sub-Committee. Lead the development, implementation and success of the philanthropy strategy by applying a strong understanding of prospect identification, stewardship plans, continuous donor growth and engagement, and data-driven processes to meet goals
  • Build impactful working relationships across the organisation to unlock large-scale opportunities for philanthropic support
  • Provide accurate budget reporting and forecasting, working within allocated expenditure
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, ethical standards, and best practices in philanthropy, maintaining the highest level of integrity and transparency in all fundraising activities
  • Plan, and execute, an active regular calendar of events with the CEO and Executive Team to attract and retain major donors and partners.

ABOUT YOU

This role will suit a fundraising professional with extensive experience. We are looking for someone who can develop an effective fundraising strategy for our organisation, and also be hands-on and be involved in the implementation on a day-to-day basis.

  • 3+ years proven work experience in a similar senior fundraising role, including development and implementation of fundraising strategies.
  • Successful implementation of fundraising campaigns across individual giving programs, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, government and philanthropic grant programs, bequests.
  • Proven results in meeting and exceeding revenue targets and other KPIs using the latest fundraising techniques.
  • Ability to produce a budget linked to an action plan and provide regular reporting on progress.
  • Ability to manage, coach and develop a small team.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft programs, database management, Google suite, Canva, Mailchimp, Raiser's Edge, Fundraisin and various social medial platforms (especially Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin)
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal, with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence people, internally and externally, and be able to represent the organisation and its mission.
  • Ability to manage, coach and develop a small team
  • Excellent high-level communication and influencing skills with experience collaborating with others to gain tailored support
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to influence growth and drive for results

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Proven experience working in fundraising specialising in philanthropy, with a track record of success in increasing revenue in those portfolios.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills, including communicating with influence, confidence, and cultural respect.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent planning, prioritising, and time management skills
  • Proactive and resourceful approach with ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using a CRM.
