About the board

The Disability Worker Registration Board (Board) and the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner (Commissioner) are independent statutory bodies. The Board and Commissioner are supported by the Victorian Disability Worker Commission (Commission).

The Board is responsible for setting registration standards for disability workers and accreditation for approved programs of study. The Board registers disability workers who meet the required standards and responds to complaints and notifications about registered disability workers and students.

About the role

The Board is seeking expressions of interest from registered disability workersregistered medical practitioners and community representatives to join its list of approved panel members.

Panel members have a critical role in considering issues relating to the health or professional standard of a registered disability worker or student for the Board. Approved panel members will participate on panels convened as required by the Board.

The Board is seeking eligible applicants with a broad range of skills, qualifications, and experience relevant to the disability sector.

The Board will appoint suitable individuals to a list of approved persons who may be selected to form a health panel or a professional standards panel, as required.

Who we're looking for

As an approved panel member, you will have:

  • Well-developed contemporary knowledge of disability issues, community expectations of standards of disability practice, and respect for people living with disability
  • Sound judgment and experience as a decision maker ideally gained as a member of a panel or similar body
  • A high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionalism and integrity
  • The ability to commit sufficient time and be available to participate in a hearing meeting, including preparation and decision writing where required.
