ABOUT THE ROLE

If you fit this profile, then you could join the dynamic Investigations Team within the Professional Conduct Branch at VIT with an exciting and challenging mandate to enable quality teaching, and provide for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

The Senior Investigator role offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their expertise to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert knowledge of investigating complex professional conduct matters, working collaboratively with a team of experienced legal practitioners and having well developed leadership skills, the successful candidate will ensure VIT makes informed decisions about the suitability of teachers to hold registration.

This role will require you to:

• Conduct assessments and investigations into the most serious and complex breaches of the VIT Codes of Conduct and Ethics, and investigate criminal offences under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006.
• Prepare authoritative reports, briefs, and correspondence on highly complex issues.
• Mentor, coach, and support the development of Investigators and other staff members. You may be required to supervise direct reports, and review and approve written products.

This role will involve exposure to sensitive and objectionable material. Senior Investigators are responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, and child sexual abuse.

ABOUT YOU

As an experienced Senior Investigator you will have sound and practical knowledge of current government investigative processes, experience working in a professional conduct setting and a passion for child safety.

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in the conduct of administrative or criminal investigations. More than three years of experience conducting investigations in a regulatory environment is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in managing and supervising a team of technical specialists in the delivery of an investigative function.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and a strong ability to influence others in agreed directions.
• Hold a Diploma of Government (Investigations), or have the ability to attain within 12 months.
