The Victorian Men's Shed Association (VMSA) is looking for a new Regional Coordinator.

The Men’s Shed movement exists to service the needs of men in the community across a wide range of activities with the goal of improving men’s health through social engagement.

There are some 360 Men’s Sheds across Victoria and this key role will act as a bridge between Men’s Sheds and local services to ensure that shed members can access timely and relevant health resources and information. Through improved communications, events and assistance at a grass roots level this role aims to engage more members and demonstrate the outcomes to government and other stakeholders.

This position will require an experienced and mature person with excellent communication skills and initiative. The successful applicant will be flexible, personable, goals-focussed and above all a good listener who can effectively respond to member needs. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated experience in the community and not-for-profit sectors and can build rapport with groups of people from a variety of different backgrounds. Some travel within Victoria will be required.

The role is full-time although part-time hours may be negotiated. The initial contract term is six months which may be renewable for a further period, subject to grant funding and employee performance.

A detailed position description will be sent to applicants who have the experience and qualifications to match our requirements.

Key skills and responsibilities include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders including shed members, health organisations, the VMSA executive and government.
  • An excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • An experience with database systems would be an advantage.
  • The confidence to establish rapport with a variety of local communities across Victoria, with a focus primarily on the needs of men.
  • The ability to attract, manage and maintain funding for the purpose of assisting Men’s Sheds and men in the broader community.
  • Effective advocacy with government, media and the corporate world on the work of the Men’s Sheds across Victoria.
  • The ability to foster strong linkages and partnerships between Men’s Sheds across Victoria.

If this role looks interesting to you and you have the requisite skills then please email your resume with contact details to VMSA’s General Manager Jim Kane via the Apply Now link below.
