Voices of Moncrieff (VoM) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Community Organiser to mobilise volunteers and empower our community on the Gold Coast.

Key responsibilities

As Community Organiser you will support our team to connect with constituents by organising and running events, managing volunteers and overseeing community engagement projects. In this role, you'll be at the heart of our work and coordinating activities that bring neighbours together, amplify community voices and drive positive change.

Event Planning: Organising engaging events on key local and Federal issues that promote community involvement, raise awareness of VoM in the community and grow our network.

Volunteer Coordination: Recruiting and supervising our amazing volunteers in the field and at community events to effectively contribute their time and skills.

Community Engagement: Building and maintaining positive relationships with residents, community groups and stakeholders to understand their needs and aspirations.

Advocacy Support: Assisting in advocacy efforts by mobilising community members and organising campaigns on the issues that matter to locals in Moncrieff.

Administrative Support: Assisting with written material relevant to events and volunteer actions, including drafting social media posts and emails, and handling sensitive and confidential information ethically and respectfully.

About you

• You are passionate about our community and possess genuine enthusiasm for uniting people, making positive change and seeing real community representation.
• You have experience motivating people to take action, ability to write clear and concise content and are comfortable approaching people from all walks of life in person, on the phone and digitally.
• You are well organised and can effectively manage multiple tasks effectively.
• You know how to put together a good event and have experience managing events.
• You have worked with volunteers or coordinating community initiatives in the past and have an ability to recruit, train, and develop rapport and connection with new people quickly.
• Understanding of political processes and knowledge of and experience in campaigning to achieve change.

Other desirable qualities

• Drivers licence and access to a car.
• Experience using NationBuilder or other data management systems.
• Experience using Google systems.

This role is based on the Gold Coast, QLD and is offered on a short-term basis until June 2025.

Remuneration is $50ph based on timesheets submitted and paid weekly (min. 10 hours p/wk).

This position will require some flexible work arrangements including occasional weekend work.

A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension by a maximum of two months.

All employees are expected to sign a confidentiality and code of conduct agreement before the commencement of their employment.
