About Us:

Volunteering Australia (VA) is the national peak body for volunteering working to advance volunteering in the Australian community. Our purpose is to lead, strengthen, and celebrate volunteering in Australia.

The Project:

Volunteering Australia (VA) has been funded by the Australian Government, Department of Social Services, to implement the Volunteer Management Activity – Volunteer Management Online Project (VMOP).

VMOP will bring the voices of the sector and technology expertise to the design of an online system that will support and enhance volunteer management and increase participation in volunteering.

The aim of VMOP is to provide Volunteer Involving Organisations and volunteers easy access to online volunteer management tools, training, and resources that are nationally consistent.

The project also aims to support Volunteer Involving Organisations to increase the numbers, retention and diversity of volunteers across Australia and build the capacity of Volunteer Involving Organisations to successfully recruit and retain volunteers online.

The Position:

The Project Manager (VMOP) is a newly created position and is responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of the entire project.

The Project Manager reports directly to the CEO, and is responsible for drafting and implementing the detailed project plan in alignment with the project charter, the day-to-day management of the project including contractor management, secretariat support of governance committees, co-design and engaging with stakeholders, managing risks and budget, managing the transition to the new system or platform, and preparing a sustainable business model for ongoing operations.

Accountability for managing the project within the approved constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver the specified requirements, deliverables and customer satisfaction.

Applicants must be an Australian citizen/permanent resident or have a suitable visa that allows permanent work in Australia in order to apply for this position.

The position is full time, although part-time hours can be negotiated. The position will be appointed on a contract until December 2023, with possibility of extension.

Duties:

  • Project management of VMOP including preparation of a Project Plan and detailed budget, regular project reports and project proposals.
  • Project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Chairing VMOP taskforce, volunteering and inclusion special interest groups.
  • Providing secretariat support to the VMOP Governance Committee, especially the CEO in his role as Chair, including preparation of papers and reports.
  • Providing secretariat support to the Expert IT Advisory Committee.
  • Providing written briefs to the Volunteering Australia Board and project collaborators.
  • Stakeholder engagement, including the development of strong working relationships with State/ territory peak bodies, peer peak bodies and broader industry.
  • Managing project staff.
  • Engaging and liaising with project consultants, especially the architecture consultant.
  • Collaborating with other Volunteering Australia projects and project staff.
  • Other duties as required.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • Demonstrated senior project management skills and transformation leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic stakeholder engagement skills and co-design experience.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level IT and computer skills, including MS Office and Database applications.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in leading technology integration projects.
  • Knowledge of volunteer management technology.
  • Knowledge of e-learning technology.

Remuneration:

$100,000 - $113,000 (SCHADS AWARD Level 7.0 to 8.0), depending on experience, plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits.
