Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC), the peak body for unions in Victoria, is looking for people who want to make a difference. We are seeking to employ a full-time Team Lead to lead our newly re-established training centre, the Victorian Labour College.

Our Labour College delivers WorkSafe-approved HSR and ARREO training as well as broader work health safety training (e.g. ComCare and safety and rights training in gendered violence and family violence as a workplace issue). Broader than OHS, the team also develops and delivers training relevant for workers, delegates, activists, workplace leaders, HSRs and affiliated unions as well as supporting other VTHC teams that deliver training with a focus on industrial and political development.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Leading the training team at Trades Hall
  • Work with all teams to develop the annual VLC training calendar
  • Planning/managing a full year long OHS training calendar
  • Developing and implementing administrative systems to better support training outcomes
  • Managing all state and federal training compliance requirements, specifically WorkSafe Victoria approved provider developed training
  • Seek out funding and other opportunities to expand our training program
  • Writing, approving and delivering new and cutting-edge training courses
  • Oversee substantial compliance requirements with training procedures as well as room bookings, catering and other deliverables

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and technical skills
  • Ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands
  • Well-developed organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work with a range of partners
  • Proven ability to manage a small team
  • Experience meeting strict compliance requirements
  • Relevant qualifications including Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the development and delivery of non-accredited training

ABOUT US

This is an ongoing, full-time position set at Level 8 or 9 (approx. $113,000 – $124,000) of our classification structure, dependent on experience.

Victorian Trades Hall has an Enterprise Agreement with a monthly RDO (in recognition of occasional additional hours) and 12% superannuation.

This position will be based at Victorian Trades Hall in Carlton and will report to the Secretary through the Assistant Secretary.
