WA Forest Alliance (WAFA) is seeking a Community and Events Organiser to join the team.

Ideally, the position is 0.8FTE but we are open to considering options with the right candidate(s). WAFA is a small but highly effective organisation made up of passionate, hard-working and dynamic people who care deeply about the protection of Southwest native forests.

Responsibilities

The Community and Events Organiser will work collaboratively with the Director and WAFA team to grow a committed activist base and community support for WAFA, but have these specific responsibilities.

  • Manage campaign actions and events in the metropolitan area, Southwest and online that are engaging and meaningful for volunteers and supporters and grow wider community support for WAFA campaigns
  • Organise volunteers and equipment for regular stalls at community events
  • Liaise and work with campaign allies in joint campaigning actions and events
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on campaign actions and events
  • Ensure action and event volunteers and participants understand WAFA principles
  • Engage with existing and new volunteers: equip them with resources, training and support, provide meaningful tasks and oversee their activities
  • Manage interns as required
  • Manage online shop with support of volunteers
  • Communicate and engage existing and new supporters via online communications platforms such as Action Network, to create emails, event pages and online actions.
  • Manage supporter data base
  • Ensure that activities are managed within budget.

Essential criteria

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with and directing individuals and groups of people
  • Experience in organising and managing a range of events
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working in the community and/or environment sector
  • Proficiency in CRM systems such as Action Network or similar
  • Experience in photo and video documentation.

Conditions

  • Located in Boorloo/Perth. The Community and Events Organiser may work from WAFA’s West Perth office and from home when appropriate, using their own computer and mobile phone.
  • Expected to travel to different locations as required.
  • $77,333 per annum (pro rata) plus super
  • 0.8FTE but we are open to considering options with the right candidate(s).
  • 6 weeks (pro rata) annual leave per annum
  • Reimbursed for all reasonable expenses including but not limited to any travel and accommodation expenses
  • Initial 12-month contract with 4-month probation period.
