All Waltja programs support Aboriginal families living on remote communities to take action on issues affecting their lives, including health, safety, education, financial literacy, family well-being, employment, environment, and maintenance of culture.
Community Development Workers provide skilled and professional support to targeted Aboriginal community clients. This includes one-to-one client support, family meetings, small group/family activities and whole-of-community events, as well as referrals, advocacy and support for clients to access specialised services. All Community Development Workers must provide timely case notes, data entry and activity reports to a high professional standard. Waltja provides Case Management supervision and continuous professional development.
Community Development Workers will be based in Alice Springs with regular travel out to allocated remote communities, with the expectation to travel to remote communities up to 4 nights per week, 3 out of 5 weeks. Community Development Workers are mentored by experienced staff while on probation. Professional supervision is provided by a Case Management Consultant.
