Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal Victorians secure appropriate, affordable housing as a pathway to better lives and stronger communities within the context of coordinated wrap around support services, build relationships that are important to the individuals, and access education and employment within a case management framework.
In addition the WOCHP will ensure meaningful participation for four residents in newly built, self contained units, with the aim of maximising staff-client engagement that speaks to strengths to maintain Aboriginal communities and cultural ties.
As the service delivery response worker, the Mentor and Recovery Support Worker plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe environment. This includes embracing tenants’ rights and responsibilities and supporting duty of care obligations between tenants, staff, family, and facility visitors.
The role of the Mentor and Recovery Support Worker is not just about individual client support but also about assisting clients in contributing to the broader goal of community capacity building. This aspect of the role is critical and will increase clients’ feelings of empowerment and impact.
The Mentor and Recovery Support Worker will report to the Mentor and Recovery Support Coordinator and foster a sense of connection and engagement within the team and program intent.
