Alex Dyson is running as a community-backed independent in the regional Victorian seat of Wannon. Over three elections, the Voices of Wannon and Alex have built a powerful grassroots movement driven by a desire for greater government transparency, accountability, and integrity.

Joining Alex Dyson’s campaign is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of this grassroots movement. As Campaign Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping an already highly organised and motivated campaign team by ensuring the campaign reaches and resonates with every voter. This role requires strategic thinking, project management, exceptional people skills, and strong political instincts.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Campaign Manager to join the independent campaign for Wannon. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of the largest-ever grassroots campaign in Wannon. As the Campaign Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our efforts, focusing on voter contact, volunteer coordination, and day-to-day execution of the campaign strategy. You will be key counsel to the candidate, advising on political positioning and ensuring his time is spent in the most strategic places. This is an opportunity to support a highly organised and motivated campaign team to win one of the most exciting races at the upcoming Federal election.

Location

This job is flexible on location but will require frequent travel within the electorate of Wannon. We are willing to consider flexible arrangements for applicants from outside of the electorate, and are happy to support with temporary relocation if needed. 

Conditions

This is a full-time, paid role from now until the next Federal election.

All volunteers and staff must adhere to the campaign values (attached).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Execution:

  • Implement the campaign plan, ensuring all activities are executed effectively and on schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage voter contact efforts, including phone banking, door-knocking, and community events.
  • Manage the team of staff and volunteers implementing the campaign strategy

Volunteer Coordination & Voter contact:

  • Manage the Lead Organiser, and work closely with them to build a big and growing voter contact program with hundreds of volunteers.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers, ensuring they are motivated and equipped to support campaign activities.

Candidate Support:

  • Provide day-to-day support to the candidate, keeping a close eye on his schedule, event coordination, and preparation for public appearances.
  • Work with the Campaign Chair and key advisors to ensure the candidate is well-briefed and prepared for all campaign activities.

Fundraising:

  • Support the lead fundraiser in planning and executing local fundraising activities, including events, fundraising calls and online campaigns.

Communications and Messaging:

  • Work with campaign leaders to develop a compelling and winning message
  • Develop and implement the communications strategy, which includes paid and organic media, digital advertising, social media, mail, and materials.
  • Draft press releases and coordinate with local and national media
  • Oversee social media and ensure outgoing communications are consistent and engaging with supporters.

Event Coordination:

  • Plan and oversee campaign events like town halls, community meetings, and press conferences.
  • Ensure all events run smoothly and effectively communicate the candidate's message.

Data Management

  • Ensure accurate data collection from voter interactions and maintain databases for follow-up and analysis.
