About the Role

Our organisation is seeking a highly motivated Gardening and Maintenance Supervisor, to lead a small team of energetic employees living with disabilities.

This is a supportive and hands on role which requires the person to assist the needs of supported employees living with disabilities in the workplace to train and guide with developing work related skills. Seeking someone who has had relevant experience in instructing, training in a supervisory context, and a understanding of supporting people living with a disability.

This role involves a dual responsibility of attending to open gardening jobs and council activities, such as bin cleaning, litter control, and playground weeding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting daily gardening and maintenance targets and goals.
  • Ensuring daily documentation is accurately reported.
  • Using initiative and ingenuity to improve productivity and using best practices to improve the efficiency whilst maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ensuring the team strictly adhere to all OH&S legislation.
  • Ensuring a person centred approach towards the training and development of employees.
  • Pro active in ensuring at all times that proper care, preventative maintenance and use of equipment is maintained at all times. Reporting any defective work or equipment to manager.
  • Daily productivity documentation and quality checks are carried out and reported to manager.

Skills and Experience:

  • Supervisory experience within a gardening and maintenance environment is preferred.
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service Skills
  • Sympathetic and sensitive to the requirements of our employees.
  • Effective Prioritisation and Organisation Skills.
  • Whilst a Certificate 4 or above in Disability or Community Service would be an advantage it is not essential, as we will provide this training as a part of your professional development.
