The Shift Supervisor supports the operation of the Kings Cross Community Services Centre. The role is responsible for assisting the Community Services Manager to create a safe and welcoming community environment focused on visitor care and social inclusion. It provides supervision and support for frontline staff and is responsible for effective implementation of procedures and practices to ensure high levels of service and positive workplace culture aligned with Wayside’s mission and values.

  • Please note the working hours for this role are 1.30PM to 9.30PM, Monday to Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Community Services Manager in overseeing community services operations and resources to meet the needs of visitors.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and provide feedback on service operations to Community Services Manager
  • Facilitate collaborations with internal and external stakeholders that support social inclusion, community connection and visitor care.
  • Collate information, statistics and provide input on service performance to Community Services Manager.
  • Roster permanent and casual staff across day and night opening hours as required by Community Services Manager.
  • Support volunteers across Community services including conducting volunteer inductions, communicating with volunteers throughout their shift and providing direction in the performance of tasks.
  • Support Community Services Manager to develop and implement strategies for culture, succession planning, and employee engagement that align with organisational goals.
  • Create and maintain a positive workplace culture by promoting Wayside values, ensuring the safety and psychological well-being of staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Foster a strong risk-aware culture that promotes timely responses to risks.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Community Services discipline and/or relevant training and experience.
  • Extensive experience working with at-risk populations and understanding of related issues, both practical and systematic (including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD, trauma, homelessness, AOD, mental health).
  • High level interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve conflict within team and between visitors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with government and other service providers for the benefit of visitors’ health and wellbeing.
