We deliver funded services and programs across the Southern Melbourne Area including the local government areas of Greater Dandenong, Frankston, Casey and Cardinia.

About the role
Our Housing Pathways work is embedded within specialist FV case management and aims to support clients to source and secure longer term, affordable, safe and sustainable housing where they can continue their journey of recovery from the trauma and dislocation caused by family violence.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Family Violence Response and Recovery, the purpose of the role is to provide case management support, with a primary focus on housing, to clients who no longer require specialist family violence case management.
Whilst housing is the main focus there may be other areas of case management support required that relate to a client’s future housing pathway. The role is the ‘housing expert’ within Family Violence services and will also provide secondary consultation to their Specialist Family Violence colleagues.
Duties include:
- Developing and facilitating a housing focused case plan with clients that may also include other goals and actions, related to securing an ongoing housing outcome that is safe, affordable and sustainable.
- Assessing client risk and safety regularly using the MARAM screening/brief tool
- Facilitating referrals and connections to other services for clients in line with their case plan
- Assisting clients with completing Office of Housing applications and to manage offers; liaising with local offices and trouble shooting any issues that may arise.
- Assessing suitability for private rental and assisting clients to source and secure a property.
- Planning, sourcing and implementing a package of tailored measures and supports that assist clients to move, establish and sustain their new property including security measures, rental subsidies, bond loans and brokerage.
- Working collaboratively with other family violence colleagues to support the housing and related needs of their clients; with reciprocal secondary consultation regarding clients based on their respective areas of expertise.
- Participating in case conferences and meetings as required
- Recording client information and case notes accurately on SHIP
- Participating in training and development, formal supervision and performance development as per wayss policies and procedures
- Ensuring the health and safety of self and others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and wayss policies and procedures.
- Providing advocacy and support activities such as:
- Culturally appropriate support for clients facing specific barriers.
- Promoting the rights, responsibilities and dignity of clients.
- Other reasonable duties as requested.
About you
You will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Community Services or other relevant discipline at diploma level or above.
- Demonstrated contemporary practice knowledge and experience of:
- case management with the ability to prepare and facilitate case plans with a focus on housing within a family violence service environment.
- advocacy; consultation; case noting and facilitating a housing needs assessment and referrals
- social housing, the private rental market and the family violence service system
- providing secondary consultation regarding housing to other team members
- using the MARAM screening/brief tool
- Experience working in the community services sector, preferably with a sound understanding of the housing and support needs of women with complex needs who have experienced family violence
- Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to respond quickly and sensitively to support the housing needs of people from all backgrounds.
- The ability to work collaboratively and as a team, building strong, authentic and supportive working relationships
- The ability to recognise and identify limits of own expertise and to seek advice or refer clients to other specialists.
- A commitment to best practice and work towards the best possible outcomes
- Excellent computer skills, Including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid ‘Employment’ category - Working with Children Check clearance. The candidate will need to have successfully completed wayss pre-employment screening, a police check.
