The Renter Services Team is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of wayss owned housing and properties managed on behalf of other owners including Director of Housing, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH)

About the Role

Reporting to the Housing and Assets Team Leader, the maintenance officer is responsible for the direct completion of maintenance tasks and coordinating and assisting in the delivery of a broad range of maintenance functions, necessary to ensure the delivery of high quality housing. The duties include:

• Undertake a diverse range of general maintenance tasks to buildings and equipment, including reactive and planned activities such as door adjustments, lamp replacement, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, and more.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled and in accordance with relevant task outlines
• Liaise with tradespersons, technicians to ensure a coordinated response to maintenance items
• Engage and coordinate contractors for specific tasks as required
• Ensure assigned Work Orders are updated with essential & relevant information including timely closure. with activity hours, materials, and costs
• Assist with relocation of furniture and equipment across the housing portfolio
• Actively contribute to a safe workplace by completing all tasks in accordance with safe work practices,

About You

You will have:

• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in delivering maintenance of residential properties or facilities
• Strong organisational skills to plan and manage allocated work tasks with the ability to work independently
• Competent skills across a range of trade areas to enable jobs to be completed to a high standard.
• A strong knowledge of basic building construction methods and building materials
• Competency to safely use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
• Basic knowledge to assess and recommend repair or replacement of white goods
• The physical capacity to perform a wide range of manual tasks
• Strong computer literacy skills including ability to record maintenance records.
• Strong communication, both written and verbal, with ability to accurately describe and report maintenance issues and rectification required
• A commitment to safety and continuous improvement
• A non-judgemental attitude and ability to liaise with people from varying backgrounds

A trades qualification such as plumber/electrician/builder, or equivalent is highly desirable but not essential.

This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid Working with Children Check clearance. The candidate will need to have successfully completed wayss’ pre-employment screening and a police check.
