Crossing Paths Carer Support Program

Supporting carers and caregivers of someone who has or is experiencing a suicidal crisis. It is a peer-led, outreach service that connects with carers, caregivers and supporters of people experiencing or who have experienced a suicidal crisis in the Gold Coast region and to offer support, connection, and access to resources.

Your new role

In this role, using your personal experience, you will work safely and appropriately, to walk alongside a carer and supporters, to provide understanding, insight, and practical guidance, which comes through having cared for someone experiencing a suicidal crisis. This role promotes the importance maintaining their own wellbeing throughout a crisis. This happens within a professional relationship which uses lived expertise and learned skills to navigate the needs identified by the carer or caregiver.

It is required that the successful candidate has lived experience as a carer of person with suicidality and a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.

What you will bring to the role

• Essential - Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and a Lived Experience of being a carer or caregiver for someone who has or is experiencing suicidality.
• Passionate about making a positive change in the lives of caring for people managing suicidality.
• Provide compassionate and practical support to access services related to individual needs. Outreach and in home / community-based support.
• Ability to connect and offer genuine understanding through shared experiences creating a sense of understanding.
• Demonstrated effective PC skills including MS Office and related applications packages.
