Wildlife Health Australia is seeking a motivated Administration Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis (7.6hrs p/wk)

Wildlife Health Australia is the peak body for wildlife health in Australia and was established as a national initiative of the Australian Government in 2002. The head office is located in Mosman, Sydney.

WHA works with a network of government and private stakeholders across Australia to develop strong partnerships in order to better manage the adverse effects of wildlife diseases on Australia’s animal health industries, human health, biodiversity, trade and tourism. WHA participates in surveillance, investigation, monitoring, research and recording of wildlife disease events, and helps protect Australia's trade, human health, biodiversity and tourism. The Administration Assistant provides general clerical and administration support to the WHA Administration Manager and WHA team. Some key functions include:

  • Respond to phone calls and emails, and take messages and delegate as necessary.
  • Provide support to WHA Membership.
  • Support the Administration Manager in maintaining a variety of databases (e.g. SoPs, Policies, WHA membership, meetings and actions).
  • Support focus groups and WHA events, including event management and minute taking as required.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for WHA staff and external stakeholders as required.
  • Assist with general contract management, and associated reporting as required.
  • Provide website and database support.
  • Production of publications and reports as required.
  • Assist with coordination of executive and administrative requests, and managing information and correspondence flow to, from and within the executive unit for WHA.
  • Ad hoc administration tasks as required, taking into consideration the applicant’s abilities and experience.

Essential Selection Criteria for the Administration Assistant includes:

  • 3 years demonstrated administrative support experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a high attention to detail
  • High competency level with Microsoft Office.
  • A typing speed of at least 50wpm.
  • Experience and commitment to accurate record keeping and data collection
  • Experience with website and database management

Desirable criteria that will be highly regarded includes:

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Apple Macs.
  • Experience with Xero, Dext/Receipt Bank, or other accounting software
  • Experience in contracts, and associated financial management and reporting
  • Experience with committees and secretariat support
  • A high IT competency and a tech savvy individual

Salary for this position is $59,307 p/a plus 10% superannuation.(Pro Rata)
