The Food Collective Café and Catering social enterprises, launched by WCC in 2024, are based at Melbourne Polytechnic in Epping and specialise in delicious, healthy and culturally diverse food made on the premises and with love. The purpose of our catering enterprise is to fund training and employment pathways in the Food Collective café, prioritising young people and people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, supporting them to build confidence to work and develop skills in hospitality.

The Food Collective Catering Manager position is integral to the establishment and development of our catering social enterprise.We are looking for an experienced catering professional with impressive stakeholder engagement skills who will ensure the smooth operations of our catering enterprise.

The Catering Manager will be the key contact for various internal and external stakeholders and partners, ensuring a smooth process for customers from ordering through to the delivery of delicious, beautifully presented food. Other duties include leading by example in hands on tasks such as food preparation and menu development, as well as managing staff/trainee supervision, ordering of supplies, inventory and budget.

Some of the duties include:

• Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the café and catering enterprise
• Manage orders, including liaising with customers on menu recommendations, quotes and invoices
• Supervise and manage staff, volunteers and trainees, including recruitment, rostering and training
• Participate in the development, promotion and growth of the café and catering social enterprises
• Facilitate workplace experiences for trainees
