About the program and role

The Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) is an Australian Government program that offers financial assistance and confidential support to people aged 18 years and above who have recently experienced intimate partner domestic violence. The program is designed to help people who have a changed living situation and are experiencing financial stress. The payment is available to people whose living situation has recently changed, or is about to change, because of intimate partner violence.

The EVP Phone Team are a team of highly qualified Caseworkers who are often the first responders to victims of intimate partner violence. The EVP Phone Team responds directly to client or agency queries, supports with over the phone applications, directs clients to internal and external referral services. The team has a vast knowledge base of the entire EVP program and can support clients through their entire applications process.

Essential Criteria

  • relevant degree with relevant experience, associate diploma with substantial experience or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level
  • minimum 2 years of experience in working within the community services sector with a good understanding of the domestic violence space utilising a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach
  • experience in maintaining and forging professional relationships with services working with victim survivors
  • demonstrated understanding of case co-ordination of clients with complex needs
  • good understanding of risk assessment and safety planning involved when an individual chooses to leave an Intimate Partner Violent (IPV) relationship
  • ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision as required
  • commitment to work at Blacktown office 3 days per week (minimum)
  • demonstrated cultural competency and experience in working alongside CALD and Aboriginal families
  • good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • knowledge of local DFV, family and child services.
