Wesley Mission is a prominent, multifaceted Christian organisation dedicated to making a tangible impact in the community. With over 200 services ranging from aged care to homeless support, child and family care, counselling, employment, training, education, and health services, we are committed to our vision: “Doing all the good we can because every life matters.”
In 1963, while led by Reverend Dr Sir Alan Walker, Wesley Mission established Lifeline. Since then, the Lifeline movement has grown significantly. It is now Australia’s largest national phone support service, answering over a million calls a year.
As one of the 40 accredited Lifeline Australia Centres, Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland is owned and operated by Wesley Mission and supports more than 30,000 people annually through its 13 11 14 crisis support service. The Centre continues to grow its volunteer base and existing suite of support services within the community.
The Centre is one of several programs supported and operated under Wesley Mission’s suicide prevention branch, central to the broader Vision of Wesley Mission.
The Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland Operations & Service Coordinator provides daily operational leadership aligned with business plans and objectives.
Reporting to the Group Manager, the successful applicant will focus on compliance with funding agreements, data collation and interpretation for reporting, support our Training and Practice staff to grow our number of volunteers in the Sutherland Shire, support the Wesley Mission Fundraising Team with the Shire and surrounding community, and volunteer workforce management (WFM) to ensure volunteer and paid ‘Crisis Supporters’ are rostered to maximise support to help seekers using the 131114 service.
The position is based in ‘The Cottage’ at 16 Bellingara Rd, Sylvania, and attends our Sydney CBD site as required. The successful applicant will also be required to maintain the stock of equipment, resources and kitchen for volunteer use at the cottage and support the team as required.
Wesley Mission is a Christian organisation that requires staff to align with its values and Worker Code of Conduct. We prioritise creating a safe and nurturing environment for children.
The suitable applicant will be subject to the relevant pre-employment checks for appointment to positions within Wesley Mission (including provision of a valid Working with Children Check clearance number). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
