About the role

Wesley Dalmar is providing residential care to young people in several locations in NSW. Residential Youth Workers will manage all day to day caring, supported by the Program Manager – Short Term Emergency Placements.

Youth Worker roles are currently being recruited to provide day to day care for young people in the following locations:

• Grafton – Northern NSW
• Lynwood – Northern NSW

Duties include one on one care of children and young people that are in residential care environments, managing behaviours and meeting outcomes according to the young person’s case plan, and assisting with their transition to foster care or independent living arrangements.

You will be a self-directed individual who is passionate about working directly with young people experiencing trauma and is committed to providing the best level care and support possible to our children and young people.

Positions are casual and can lead to permanent part-time.

Essential criteria

• minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar field, and/or minimum 12 months experience working with children and young people in a child protection context
• availability to work flexible working hours including shift work, weekends, and paid overnight shifts
• ability to demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed care
• intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Citrix, Outlook

Desirable criteria

• experience in Out of Home Care, and/or working with challenging and complex behaviours in children and young people
• minimum 12 months experience working with children and young people
• strong ability to work as a part of a team and independently

Conditions of employment

This position is identified as a child-related role and prohibited persons under the Child Protection Act 2012 are not eligible to apply. The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check Number and a National Criminal History Check.

Applicants are also required to:

• follow a rotating roster
• be on call on a rotating roster as needed
• provide First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
• provide a copy of unrestricted driver’s licence
• provide a current paid NSW Working with Children check number
• willing to undergo a Criminal History Check
• willingness to consent to the Residential Care Workers Register

Remuneration

Salary and conditions of employment are based on the Social, Community. Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 3. Generous salary packaging opportunities for permanent employees.
