About the opportunity

Are you an experienced and dedicated Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counsellor? We want you to join our team at the Catalyst Program in Hobart. As an AOD Counsellor, your role is pivotal in offering support and guidance to individuals and families grappling with substance use issues. Your expertise and unwavering commitment will make a significant impact in helping people regain control of their lives and work towards a healthier, addiction-free future.

The role will also provide support with the development and delivery of evidence-based individual and group therapeutic interventions intended to assist participants to establish healthier lifestyles free of problematic alcohol and drug use; and assist participants to avoid and better manage relapse.

About you

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will hold a relevant qualification in AOD counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field. You will also have:

  • Proven experience in AOD counselling and a solid grasp of evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team.
  • Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
