About the opportunity

Bring your consumer participation, codesign or community development skills, as well as facilitation or project management, and bring your whole self to our Consumer Partnerships team.  Play a key role in supporting Consumers to share their lived experiences with safety and confidence in decision making at Uniting.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, training and orientation of new Consumer Partners.
  • Deliver training, coaching, support, and guidance to consumer partners and the workforce.
  • Involve Consumer Partners on Eastern interview panels.
  • Implement partnership activities including establishing an advisory group.
  • Develop a partnering with young people guide for Uniting.

About the team

Our Consumer Partnerships team helps create purposeful, safe, meaningful, and consistent partnerships at Uniting. Consumer Partners are people who access Uniting currently, or in the past, and share their expertise and lived experience.  The team seeks to share of power, create cultural change, and demonstrate high-quality engagement and partnerships practice across all aspects of the organisation including governance, service design, advocacy, and service delivery.

What’s on offer

Part-time role 3 days per week.  We’ll work with you on finding a combination that suits both you and us. We also work flexibly and set you up with the tools and access to work-from-home and at least one of your workdays in our office at either Croydon or Blackburn.

In addition to base salary and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and the ability to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits that can be used on living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and much more.

About you

Your experience in consumer participation, codesign or community development, and facilitation, training or coaching, or project management as well as  your ability to relate meaningfully with people will make you a great fit for our team.  We’d also encourage your application if you’ve had lived experience of a social issue as a carer or consumer.

You will also bring with you:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and consumers – listening and shared decision making.
  • An understanding of cultural safety & empathy for people with a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
  • High initiative, flexibility, and problem-solving ability.
